Joseph Spencer Payne (29 April 1829 – 12 April 1880) was an English cricketer. Payne was a right-handed batsman who bowled left-arm roundarm medium pace. He was born at East Grinstead, Sussex. Payne made his first-class debut for Sussex against the Marylebone Cricket Club at Lord's in 1861. He took figures of 4/29 in the Marylebone Cricket Club's first-innings, but wasn't required to bowl in their second-innings, with the Marylebone Cricket Club winning by 85 runs.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Marylebone Cricket Club v Sussex, 1861 )〕 He made a second first-class appearance for Sussex in that season against Kent at the Royal Brunswick Ground, Hove.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=First-Class Matches played by Joseph Payne )〕 He took his only career five wicket haul in Kent's first-innings, with figures of 8/73.
